Visual Storytelling

What is it?

Visual storytelling is the art of using pictures to juxtapose complicated ideas (the unknown) onto simple narratives (known stories) to make them easier to understand.

It’s the perfect way to distill difficult concepts into bitesize ideas, to engage diverse audiences and drive them to action.

Using visual storytelling, we’ve worked with clients to:

  • secure research funding

  • convince commissioners to back new projects

  • demonstrate and develop the impact of research or public sector work

  • engage hard to reach audiences.

Why does it work?

Visuals are FAST. Visuals are MEMORABLE. Visuals are ENGAGING.

There is also research rationale behind why visual storytelling is so valuable for use in academic work too - download our ‘Research Rationale’ document here to use in funding bids (sorry it’s words, funders get scared if they see anything else in applications ;)!).

What format do visual stories take?

We develop visual stories across a variety of media. Here’s a flavour!
