What is live scribing?
Live scribing is the real time illustration of verbal and written information in digestible pictures.
It’s an innovative way to record events, solve problems more effectively at meetings, and engage research/event participants in your project.

How does live scribing work?
Live scribing works on a spectrum:
At one end is a ‘pure live scribe’ - this is where we are flies on the wall and capture everything as if we were a participant. This is good for conferences and meetings with a set agenda.
In the middle is ‘graphic facilitation’ - this is where we might play a more active role in the session, asking questions and working with participants to co-create the illustrations. This is good for workshops and research co-design sessions.
At the other end is ‘workshop design’ - this is where we work with you to design the session around visual thinking principles, create workshop materials such as live drawing decks and visual activities, and also facilitate AND scribe the session too. This is good for strategy, visioning and research co-design sessions.

Nifty impact
We are a UK-leading digital scribe agency for the academic and public sectors. We won the Northern Enterprise Awards Best Visual Communications Agency 2023 for our live scribing work. We’ve scribed topics from the future of international climate finance, and the experiences of domestic abuse survivors, right through to co-designing NHS treatment pathways and reimagining what a digital society looks like.
We are very happy of having worked with Nifty Fox for the delivery of our event. Chris and the rest of the team have been excellent throughout: from early communication , to discussing the details of the scribing beforehand, to helping us moving tables on the day. All our delegates (nearly 100 people) have told us they were amazed by Chris' ability to capture insights simultaneously and translate them into images. Following the event, Chris and I worked together on amending the initial images: I sent the amendments that we thought needed to be reflected in the images and Chris sent back an updated version the following morning. Where you need facilitation to guide your group to a shared outcome, we offer facilitation pricing too. This is usually charged at 2 x a live scribe rate, and includes:
- A 1 hour planning call
- Full session design including a bespoke webpage with walkthrough video and session plan for approval
- All activity work sheets and materials required on the day provided
- Visual facilitation on the day, with live drawn slides and session discussion summaries
- Follow up round of revision to live scribed outputs
