The Hero
Kent County Council - The Kent and Medway Suicide Prevention Team
The Challenge
Suicide is devastating. Increasing evidence points to a link between domestic abuse and suicide.
30% (184 out of 608) of suspected suicides in Kent and Medway between 2018 – 2022 had been impacted by domestic abuse.
The Kent and Medway Suicide Prevention Team needed a way to share very challenging research with policy and public stakeholders to raise awareness of and policy support for addressing the link between suicide and domestic abuse. A cold, wordy and lengthy report didn’t do the topic justice.
The Solution
Nifty worked with the Suicide Prevention Team to distill the research into impactful, key messages. We worked closely with stakeholders to find an illustration style and presentation that represented the issue in a sensitive but thought provoking way. We created a visual summary report, suite of illustrations and a summary video for the team to use at conferences, meetings and marketing campaigns internationally.
The Result
The team are touring the visual summary report and illustrations all over the world. Tim Woodhouse, Kent and Medway ICS Suicide Prevention Programme Manager, even won a poster competition at a conference in Slovenia using our illustrations!
